The Neil Falkner Memorial Scholarship Fund

There is value in a life fully lived.
– Neil Falkner

Neil FalknerNeil was a ski patroller on Whistler Mountain for five years, a lover of the outdoors, an avid mountain biker, and skilled motorcyclist. Neil lead motorcycle tours through the back roads of BC in summer, and pursued back-country and alpine skiing in winter. At the age of 16 Neil went on an Outward Bound program in the British Columbia wilderness, returning with confidence, pride, and a desire to challenge himself and others.

Neil’s family established a scholarship in his memory with Outward Bound Canada in 2003. A leader in outdoor education, Outward Bound provides wilderness expeditions for people of all ages and abilities. Participants experience physical and emotional success by pushing beyond their ideas of what is possible. Students learn the technical skills demanded by travel in the wilderness and develop adaptability, responsibility, confidence, integrity, persistence, and teamwork.

the ravenThe Neil Falkner Memorial Fund provides an Outward Bound wilderness adventure annually to a grade 10 student at the school Neil attended, Britannia Secondary in East Vancouver, and a grade 10 student in the Whistler/Pemberton area where Neil lived and worked. Scholarships are provided equally to young women and men.

Please donate to the memorial fund in Neil’s memory. An annual contribution will help ensure opportunities for years to come. Donations of $20 or more will receive a tax receipt.
